I heard this quote once, "What I spent I had; what I kept, I lost; what I gave, I have!"
Give,
and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken
together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the
measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38

Jesus
said, it is more blessed to give than to receive. The word "blessed"
means happy, fortunate joyful, prosperous, and successful. In other
words, the greater degree of happiness is experienced/found when we
give. People often say: where does it say it in the Bible? They are
fighting it because most of us like to be on the receiving end of a
gift. That is why most of us look forward birthdays. No body ever says: I
am looking forward somebody else's birthday or cannot wait to give!.
In
the book of Acts chapter 20:32-35 Jesus said: "And now I commend you to
God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to
give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. I have
coveted no one’s silver or gold or clothes. You yourselves know that
these hands ministered to my own needs and to the men who were with me.
In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must
help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself
said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” He didn't make a
suggestion. To not give is to disobey God. We need to be believers and
doers of the Word of God. Friend, God says it, then it is settled: It is
more blessed to give than to receive.
We
know that God word is truth and life. We can believe Jesus because He
knows a thing or two about giving. "But Jesus loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto
God and His Father." (Revelation 1:5-6). He gave His best by giving His
life. Glory! Of all the good things we receive from the hand of the Lord
physically and emotionally, none can compare to what we receive
spiritually through Jesus sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.
So you see, God command us to do something He had done. He gave. He gave
Himself. Today, give not only what you have in excess but a sacrificial
gift. Give something that you will feel, something of value and be
blessed. Our Lord said in Luke 6:38 "Give and it will be given to you. A
good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be
poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured
to you."
If
anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no
pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us
not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John
3:17-18
"And
Father how grateful I am for your love! You gave me your best: your son
Jesus Christ, my Savior and my Lord. It is in His name that I am
asking you to please equip me with the gift of discernment so I can
know how to effectively help those around me. I want to be more like you
every day and in every way. I want to give freely and happily to those
in need. I want to represent you through spirit and in truth." Amen.
Let us believe the Word of God, and let us also comply with it!
Praise the Lord!
