Apostle Paul's advice
"Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another." (Romans 14:19).
"Pursue peace with all men, and, without which no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14
Jesus made us the promise of peace:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (v.27).
The Greek word for peace is eirene which means to bring peace, to be at peace, to live in peace, and the Hebrew Scriptures used many words for peace, the main one is “shalom” which also means completeness, peace, to be at ease spiritually and emotionally, and to have a sense of internal well-being despite adverse circumstances. Peace is used over 265 times in the Old Testament and 95 times in the New Testament and this is the kind of peace God intended, and has made provision for those who trust in Him.
We are not living in a peaceful world. There is trouble in the Middle East, in Africa, Indonesia, Haiti and Japan, but the increase of crimes of violence in this country is discouraging. "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!" (16.32-33) We are not promised an easy path, but we can still have peace because of the One who is with us. We will be "insulted and persecuted and have all kinds of evil told falsely against us because of Christ" (Mt. 5.11). Yet we are to "love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us" (Mt. 5.44). The path that leads to life is narrow and hard and yet we can still experience God's perfect peace.
Jesus promises peace. Not the kind of peace given by the world. He promises a peace that is deep and enduring, a peace at the center of our being that no outward circumstance can take away. Jesus promised the kind of peace that surpasses all intelligence. Jesus could promise peace because He is the Prince of Peace. There can be peace in adversity with God and there should be no more conflict within ourselves and we need not to be afraid. We need to be able to sleep soundly because we have peace in Him.
Now charge your spirit up with the word of God and walk in victory by faith and you shall overcome. Praise God for His perfect peace. Be joyful my friend, the situations of your life are changing. It is God will and promise to you to experience perfect peace.
Praise the Lord!
