In my distress I called the Lord;
I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came
before him, into his ears. Psalm 18:6
“Call on me in times of trouble.
I will rescue you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:1
As for me, I call to God and the
Lord saves me. Psalm 55:16
A recent study shows that 50
percent of marriages in the United States end in divorce. There are many
reasons for divorce. A few are quite common: financial difficulties, intimacy
challenges, infidelities, and change of priorities but poor communication or
lack thereof is the primary reason for divorce in America. People do not want
to live with those who do not know how to talk and those who ignore their
needs. Can you imagine living with a spouse who simply cannot understand you?
Unfortunately no human relationship is perfect. We are living in an imperfect
world. It is critical that you and I understand that only a relationship with
God can be completely satisfying and perfect in every way.
God loves us so much that He sent
His son to give His life for our salvation (John 3:16). God is closer than we
think. He is always near and waiting to answer our calls and yet some have
never made an effort to get to know Him. Many know of God but very few know Him
intimately. People simply do not make an effort. On the other hand, tremendous
effort is made to fix our human relations. Personally I think that God must
feel some sadness in observing how we put the cares of this world ahead of Him. Listen, God orders us to cast to cast our
worries on Him (Psalm 55:22). He wants to be in communication with us because
He loves us.
Friend, a person who does not
spend time with you and uses excuses to justify it, is not fully invested
emotionally or otherwise in the relationship. Such behavior causes lots of
unnecessary pain to the more vested partner. It is incredible and even
outrageous that people should treat the Creator that brought all things into
existence in such a way! Listen up, if you love God you are going to have to
spend time getting to know Him through reading His words and by developing a
real relationship with Him. You have got to communicate and spend time with
God. I often wonder why a saved person would want to spend eternity with the
God that he/she never made time to get to know. People actually think they can
treat God the way they treat each other.
It is wonderful to know God as a
provider and healer, but do you know God as the ultimate loving Father and
Master and the One whose word is the final authority? Do you God as a friend?
Did you know that most Christians call on God when under extreme pressure? They
seek His face for help but have no interest in a relationship with God. LISTEN, I want this to be very clear: God
loves you. He craves a relationship with you and He grieved the lack of
intimacy/alone time with you in the same manner we grieved when those we love
reject us. The relationship with God deserves more attention than any other in
our lives. The average lover will walk out when things get hard but the love of
God endures forever. He longs for our love. Sadly, very few people give God the
time He deserves (time that He actually gives).
I believe that God is looking for
those who will be His friends and with whom He could form an impenetrable
circle, a, unbreakable bond, and undeniable connection. God is looking for
those who will make time for Him. God is looking for those who will praise Him
even when they are going through trials and tribulations because they trust
Him. God is looking for those who will make communication with Him a
priority. Friend, make time for God
today because tomorrow is promise to no one.
Seize the opportunity (right now).
Listen, God is a real lover. He will take you back with open arms no
matter how long you have been away. He will not give you the silent treatment
or the cold shoulder. There is no
waiting period. You can come right in.
Friend, treat God with the honor
that He deserves. Give God His righteous place in your heart and your life.
Make communication with God a priority and be blessed!
Praise the Lord!
