There is always a reason to give thanks to the Lord. It is so easy to see what we don't have and yet we are blinded when it comes to noticing our blessings. During the times when I lived in my father's shed, I once woke up in the middle of the night crying and feeling sorry for myself. It was during a week that was particularly tough, but the day before I received two letters, one was another rejection for a job I was by all accounts qualify for and the other was a notice that my car was going to be taken away. There I was an adult sleeping in my father' shed, I was job less and soon to be car less.

Why me? Why was I the only one suffering? Why can't my life be the way I envisioned it and the way I prepared it to be? I have asked the same questions all nights until I fell asleep. God is so good! He woke me up and show me how blessed I was even in the midst of my job situation. I had a father who cares enough and invited me to his house. I was healthy, educated and I was fed daily, but beyond that, I thought I knew my father but it wasn't until my time in the shed that I really got to know him. In as much as I loved my mother and remembered everything about her, I have always wondered if I really knew her. What a privilege and a blessing to really know my father for the man that he is!

We often get caught up in what we want and we miss out on what we already have. What I have learned during my time of great needs is that God is good no matter what happens in my life. God is and will always remain a good father. He loves me so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to die just for my salvation and now I have eternal life. lack may come. Famine may come. Sickness, disease, pain, humiliation and rejection may come but nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus and that is all that matters. "Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2

Friend, when you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you become son/daughter of God. Your salvation is secured. It does not matter what happens from now on. You belong to God and that should be enough to give you joy and a thankful heart.

Thank you Father God for who you are. Thank you for opening my heart to your goodness. Thank you for loving me enough to send your son to die for my salvation. I will forever be grateful. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Praise the Lord!
